Questions & Answers for Moon X-Power 1500 Rechargeable Front Light

Question
Should the blue LED on the power switch remain on when the battery is disconnected?
This may well be a silly question, but should the blue LED on the power switch remain on when the battery is connected but the light switched off? It does make it useful to find the light switch when its dark, but I wonder how quickly it will drain the battery? For example, should I be disconnecting the battery from the light each evening to prevent necessary charging? I am guessing that the current draw of the blue LED is so low it's insignificant, but it would be good to have this confirmed.

It always stays on on mine while the battery is working properly.

I'm advised that it should change to red when the battery's low but I've never seen it yet.

The light should be on, as you are right, the draw from a tiny LED like that is absoloutely insignificant. It is certainly MORE useful that you can see the switch in the dark!

Yes, I believe so. The draw from the battery is very low and over a week the battery had not discharged significantly when I left mine connected for over a week, but I tend to disconnect the battery from the light unit if I'm not going to be using the bike for more than two or three days.

Yes mate, it should stay on. As for power useage, it's so minimal I should think that it'd run for years with it on.
Great light though isn't it?!

It comes with a fixing that attaches to the vents in your helmet, via a velcro strap, which holds it in place plenty good enough.

The handlebar mount is really poor.

Question
HI, Should the battery be drained totally before charging it for the first time ?
I wonder if it is better to drain the battery fully before charging it for the first time or if it is better to charge it straight out of the box.

From what I've read from other similar products it's better to give it a charge straight out of the box, even if it says full give it an hour or so - there's clever electronics to stop it over charging - just to make sure it is fully charged. But realistically it doesn;t matter too much, modern hitech batteries like these have loads of failsafes built in to stop you ruining them! Just try and generalyl speaking get them down to half charge at least before re-charging them and you should be fine. (Battery life is dependant on the number of charge cycles it goes through, irregardless of how much charge the charge cyckle puts in - so if you use it for 5 minutes and re-charge it, it is 'one charge' down, just like if you flattened the battery and recharged it...)

I got mine with UK plug. At local electric shop, a converter plug from UK to EU costs only 4,5€. So - still a great buy.

Plug supplied is a fixed UK 3 pin plug but no reason why you couldn't replace the plug or use an adapter.

Plug will take 100-240V and outputs 8.4V 1.5A with a standard end so should be easy to find the same as it isn't non standard :)
