Question
Exactly what maps come with Rider50?
are they the Navteq HD ones, what countries are covered, and is SD card included? There is a LOT of confusion about this, hence my question.
BTW, your Best Answer in FAQs about this product, says "You can download new maps on OpenStreetMap.org which is a free to use and open source mapping website which is supported by Bryton." From what I have read this could be very misleading. It seems that Bryton does (or did) use OSM maps, but users CANNOT use freely downloaded maps on Bryton GPSs.

Included is a dvd and SD card that contains navteq maps for UK and Europe, from these you can activate ONE map, any additional maps must be purchased through bryton
(HD maps start at 69 euro and are not available for digital distribution, shop or mail only)
OSM were used on a previous version of this device but since the deal with navteq this is no longer the case
answer 2
Currently the units are shipping with Navteq HD maps and in the UK they cover Western Europe (excluding Nordic) and you can enable one for free. You get an SD card and DVD of the maps.

The unit i purchased had a 4gb SD card and had the navteq HD for europe and South africa. However when you register the bryton you choose which country you want to use. Other countries you can purchase even though you have already have the maps. Take a look at http://www.brytonsport.com/eshop for more info
