Comes in both a 5 bolt and a 4 bolt version.

Yes although the picture does show a 4 bolt version it will be 5 bolt.

You should get a 42t, the 38t may not cover the ring completely.

Unfortunately not, the 46T chainring and chain will sit higher than the guard.

You would need to check the BCD size of your current ring to determine the correct size of this guard. These are available in 110 or 130mm BCD sizes.
