Customer Questions & Answers for
Roadracer Mudguard Set

Traditional mudguard construction dictates a sturdy design, with bolted fixing at the brake bridges, and metal or rigid plastic utilised in the main arc. This principle has remained unchanged for a century or more.

I fitted my set to my Avanti Vivace 2009 without a problem. I reckon you'd be able to fit these to your bike too.

Don't know about the Feltz35 but on my Roubiax which seems to have a pretty narrow fork, they fit fine. Also note that if they do not fit a narrow fork, they would be very easy to trim a slight notch into so that they would set inside the fork nicely.

Max tire size is listed as 25. So anything 25 and below should work.

Question
Will they work on a hybrid?
Do you know if these mudguards will work on a hybrid? The hybrid in question is a Kona PhD with 23c tyres - the frame is very similar to a road bike, the big difference being that it has cantilever brakes so perhaps no means of attaching the mudguards near the non-existent brake callipers?

Looking at a pic of the Kona PhD I'd say - no they won't fit. This is because one of the three fixing points for the mudguards is via a cable tie around the pivot bolt of the brake assembly on a standard road bike. The cantilever brake set-up on your bike doesn't have the required attachment point. Sweet looking bike though. Try Zefal or SKS mudguards.

Thanks for response. I've actually fitted them and found: as mentioned they really do need a bolt to attach to so if you don't have caliper brakes the best bet is to install a bolt where the brakes would be and then zip tie the mudguard to that. If the frame is not drilled/tapped for a bolt there, then it'll take some creative thinking to attach the mudguards securely - attaching the guard directly to the bridge in the frame probably won't work as it'll twist the guard out of line.

All I can say is that they are very close-fitting. My tyres are 700x23 and I spent a fair amount of time getting them to fit without rubbing. I think you may have problems with 700x38 tyres. Hope this helps.

The mudguards are clamped to the brake calliper mounting bolt with a cable tie. You should find that, even if you only have 6 or 7mm clearance between the tyre and frame, they will fit OK. However, a bit of patience may be required to get the perfect fit.

If the tyres are 25mm or wider and you have limited clearance under the rear bridge, then I doubt it. You might be better off with SKS Race Blade XL.

No I haven't but my bike has minimal clearances and they still fit. They do touch the tyre slightly at the top but not enough to slow you down.

25s might be OK but you need something to zip-tie the guards (bridge/crown). They are designed to tie to the brake fixing bolt.

They fit my 25s with callipers so I'd say clearance with cantis would be fine. The problem you will have is that they attach to the calliper's brake bolt, so you will need to MacGyver up a solution for your cantis.

Yes. The fitting on the mudguard where it passes the seat-stays is just a moulded slot for a zip-tie. Normally you'd loop the zip-tie around the brake pivot bolt, but you can do the same thing around the bridge in your frame (assuming it's a classic-shape metal frame with a bridge). Otherwise (eg a wishbone style frame) you may need a couple of zip-ties to loop around the wishbone.
Zip-ties are your friend.

I fitted them to my fixie, but because the clip tie is supposed to go over the brake, i modified the guard (cut it with a scalpel) so i could thread the clip tie through the hole in the frame where the rear brake would go. If your frame isnt drilled for a brake at all this won t work. I actually don't like them because they rattle, (i m changing to the mtb style ones that attach to the seat post.)

Yes they will, but be very careful that they don't rub off your frame anywhere. They wore a hole in my carbon frame in about 3 weeks.

Question
Will these fit on a Boardman Hybrid Comp 2010?
Hi, I just wanted to know if these would fit on a Boardman Hybrid Comp 2010 model? I have 25C Marathon Plus tyres fitted. Any advice would be greatly received as i'm looking for some low key mudguards for my new ride and "regular" fit full mudguards don't seem to be an option as they need to be bent around the disc brakes!
