Questions & Answers for Altura Night Vision Waterproof Winter Cycling Gloves

Question
How long are the fingers on the L and XL sizes?
I have bought several pairs of long finger gloves online, whilst I have followed the manufacturers sizing guide every single pair has been too short in the fingers. The circumference of my knuckles is 22.5cm and my middle finger is 9.5cm, can you please confirm which size will be appropriate for me.

Thanks

Hi Randomnamefororm,
I never follow the manufacturer size concerning long finger gloves for three reasons.
first: air is a good isolating so, it is better to have a small air cushion between your skin and the glove. second if it's too narrow, your hands get painful with the cold.
third: in case of very cold morning you can have possibility to wear it with inner silk gloves.
So my perfect size is L but I choose XL for more comfort.

Sorry for my poor english.

I bought a pair of med and found the wrists very tight, my knuckles are 21.5cms. When I did get them on the fingers were all too long for me, my middle fingers are 8 and 8.5cms so these may be ok for you. I returned mine without any hassle and got a refund.

My sizing is between small and medium for me but needed large to get enough palm width - however this had the advantage that the fingers are long enough when riding. I think cycling gloves need long fingers as you really push hard on the gloves when on the bars so if they fit perfectly when not on the bars, the fingers will be too short when riding - best to have some spare finger length when just trying them on without riding. the middle finger on the Large is 10.5cm

My middle finger is 8cms and knuckle circunfrance is 20 cms. I have XL and they are comfortable.
L would definitely be too small for you - XL would be a tight fit - maybe you need XXL?

I have the L and they fit me but only just. My hands are smaller than yours so i suggest you go for the XL

See my review of these gloves. I've relatively small hands so bought the large, which are just fine for me. However, If you've what you'd consider lareg hands I'd say you'd need the XL size.

Sounds like your hand is the same size as mine. I went for XL which I would suggest is best when you take in to consideration the inner liner glove. If you got the "L" I would think it would be too tight with both. You can of course wear the outer glove on its own, but that loses some of the insulation i.e OK if its not too cold. Hope that helps

Question
Are these gloves totally waterproof?
I commute daily to work in Glasgow and have nowhere to dry out gear once I get there. I don't mind getting sweaty fingers but I can't be doing with gloves that are going to get soaked right through.

The answer to this is no!
Initially very happy with these, (see previous review) but in any downpour they become sponges, no idea where they get the waterproof bit from?

Don't know - so far its been too cold to rain, I suppose it all depends on how long a ride you have and how hard it is raining.

They are pretty waterproof - I haven't had mine leak yet. However being waterproof they do get damp inside, rain or shine and if you don't dry them after use then they feel pretty cold and miserable when you next put them on.

I haven't dunked them into a bowl of water, but I went out today ( just purchased these ) in a fairly heavy downpour. Fingers were sweaty, but the inner gloves were dry on the outside - so unless you're swimming in them, I'd say they were waterproof enough. But then I can't compare 'glasgow rain' to soft southern(ish) Leicesteshire rain.

But as this was asked over a year ago - i imagine you're sorted ( or wet ).

Question
Why are there reviews on this glove mentioning removable inners?
I have just bought a pair of these gloves having read the great reviews BUT some reviews mention a removable inner glove which simply doesn't exist, unless of course you've sent me the wrong pair or the glove has changed. Either way please explain.

No removable inners, but maybe you can wear inner gloves also (if you get the size-too-big)

Question
What design: 2011 or 2012
Design of these gloves is changing between 2011 and 2012. Are you selling now the 2011 spec (with brand on the index finger) or a zebra (2012 spec).
Thanks
