Questions & Answers for Altura Night Vision Waterproof Overtrousers

Question
Are the trousers easy to get on when wearing boots?
I often wear boots when riding my bike and have found in the past that it's difficult to put over-trousers on due to limited opening and the leg bottoms. How far does the opening on these trousers come up the leg?

The zip comes almost up to the knee - very easy. It doesn't affect the velcro adjusters, either, so your trousers won't catch in the chain after putting them on.

Hi,

Opening comes up to just under the knee and opens fully , i.e. not gusseted.
I wear shimanos MTB winter wellys and can almost get them on over thes without opening the zips.

2 Velcro tabs on each leg also reduce bulk once zipped in to avoid chain snags.

I love them.

It comes up to the top of the calf.... about 30cm. Easily fits a shoe, though I have to sit down to pull them over my feet - I wear steel toe-capped work shoes, so very bulky, but no problems

yes, they have a long zip at the back of the leg and velcro fastening. The legs are also width adjustable at the ankle.

answer 6
Yeah, never a problem, there's a zip and velcro leg opening at the heal the provides amble room. The ankle adjustment is separate so this stays adjusted, nice touch

answer 7
The opening on these comes up about three quarters of the way up my calf. If you undo the zips, you should be able to get them on with boots without any problems at all.

There actually are zippers going up to the knee, but i would not recommend putting them on with boots or any other shoes on, the risk of ruining the fabric is too great.

answer 9
There is no opening on the leg, the tightness of the leg is adjusted with velcro straps. I would not recommend trying to put them on with boots on.

You could easily wear these over normal trousers, but if you're riding any distance, I'd opt for a good base layer.

I normally wear them over cycling apparel though tried them on over a pair of jeans which was fine. You can adjust the velcro at the bottom of the pants to keep the cuffs away from the chain quite easily

answer 6
I have been using them as overtrousers and they are fine, but they may not be breathable enough for you. I found that the fit was fairly generous and I wear them over my casual trousers fine. They are adjustable, especially around the cuffs and will certainly keep the road splatter etc off your clothes. I have started leaving my trousers at work and putting on tights or long johns under them, but its winter here and I have a 10km country road commute.

You can use these whenever you wish but they are cut specifically for cycling so you may find some areas baggy, like at the knee, when you walk in them.

Question
Adjustable leg length?
How does the adjustable leg length work and how much variance does it add? I'm 6ft 3 with a 34/35 inch leg and am unsure which size will fit my leg length without the waist being like a tent.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The waist is elasticated and can be brought in easily and the way the legs are exteneded is there are press studs on the inside and they can go down about 2 inches it insnt much so a large might be good for you.

The bottom of the leg is turned up inside and there are press studs on the bottom of the legs that click into two different positions. The third length is with no turn up. I guess the variation in length is at least 100 mm. The last 100 mm is not zipped but as it is at the back of the leg it does not really matter.

I don't think these trousers will be suitable for you. I measured the XL size which has a 29" inside leg at the shortest configuration. It then has a material section folded and poppered into the inside leg. This material is 4" in length so when unfolded completely the inside leg comes to 33".

Personally, I'd wear a base layer, especially to prevent rubbing at the knees.

i would recommend at least wearing a pair of undershorts, the trousers aren't lined for comfort so you will find them uncomfortable against bare skin if used for too long.

I assume so - I use the spray on the jacket & it works really well. Not so impressed by the Nik-Wax sachets for the washing machine. Same material as the jacket.

I'm a 36 waist and 31 inside leg and got a XXL. Thought it was going to be WAY too big - fits perfectly. Recommend XL, should be fine.

You will need an XL for waist fit but you will need to put up with a long leg unfortunately.
