Did this myself. You need to make sure your cassette isn't too worn else it won't really marry, likely you'll want to have a 10spd cassette and you may need a new chain. The bottom bracket should be ok (but I replaced mine anyway). Your groupset will also need to be Shimano (105 or better). Your front and rear derailleurs will probably be ok but if your feeling lavish you may want to upgrade these.

You just need Hollowtech 11 bearings (with the correct threading for your frame) and a tool to fit them. Frames usually have English thread except for some Italian frames.

Question
Difference between Ultegra 6700 & 6750
Hi, I want to change my Ultegra 6700 chainset (with 172.5 cranks) for a compact version. I note you don't have a compact 6700 but do have a compact 6750 - what's the difference?
Also, the price is quoted in $ - are these US or Australian?
Thanks
Barry

The 6750 is the Compact version - the 6700 is the standard. This means that the 6750 has a much smaller inner cog and slightly smaller outer. It is a better choice if you want a slightly easier time of it up hills, but you'll trade away a bit of average and top speed (higher cadence to maintain a given speed). If you're in a flat or rolling hill area the Standard is ok, but if you're in a hilly or mountain zone, make life easy on yourself.

The difference is just the ratio of the chainrings so you need the 6750 not the 6700. The currency is displayed in either AUD or USD depending on which one you have chosen in the currency drop down menu in the basket area.

Question
Compatibility with older model Ultegra front derailleurs?
I have read in a few reviews that the spacing between the two rings on the new ultegra hollowtech II 6700 chainset has been increased in comparison to older model chainsets - does this mean that an older version front derailleur will not be sufficient to shift between the chainrings?

You should check the bike's original spec, easy web search that's what I did. For Pinarello I'd say it would be Italian, this BB comes in both standards.

I could not guarentee what size your BB shell is on this frame, please measure your BB shell and if its 68mm it will be the English thread and if it measures 70mm you will need the Italian thread.

This chainset is not supplied with a bottom bracket so you will need to purchase one separately. These are supplied in English or Italian thread options.

Unfortunately not, Octalink is a different standard. You will need to order external bottom bracket cups for use with Hollowtech II chainsets. These will still fit in your frame but you will need to order these cups separately as linked below.

Although this chainset is predominantly for 10 speed drivetrains the width difference between a 9 and 10 speed chain is marginal, so it should be compatible.
