I'd say just right. I buy Medium T-Shirts on the high street and this Jersey fits me snug as I'd expect for a cycling Jersey and it's also a Medium.

Definately not on the generous size for me. I'm 5'8" and 40" chest. Bought large and its way too tight.

If you order the correct size, it will not be super tight like a pro rider jersey but you should have some room. The chart says I am a M but I like a little more room so I have L and I am happy. Hope this helps.

A base layer could mean a short or long sleeve t-shirt, or vest followed by a riding top. I use a singlet as a base layer in the cooler months

answer 2
A base layer goes under your other layers, against the skin for comfort and or insulation. The jersey may be worn against the skin or over a suitable base layer.

answer 3
A base layer is for regulating the body temperature and is a close fitting garment that should be worn underneath a jersey to wick away sweat. A jersey is a fitted garment that is used for riding in and is worn over the top of a base layer if required.

I've an ample middle age spread with a 46" chest and I find the XL fits me perfectly. I would be surprised if you found the XXXL too small.

answer 2
DHB is just about the only range that caters for XXL and XXXL sizes. The XXL is recommended on the size chart for 48" chest.
