Questions & Answers for Mobi V-15 Pressure Washer

Question

I live upstairs in a flat and need to be able to clean outside with no nearby power supply

Needs to be plugged into the lighter socket, or via the mains adaptor that can be bought from Mobi.
But, you can also buy a rechargeable powerpack from Mobi so it can be used anywhere you want, no car no mains socket.
I haven't got one yet but I am planning on getting one soon.

It's not chargeable.. you need to plug it into a cigarette lighter in a car..

Maybe you can plug it into a normal electricity socket if you find an adaptor, but I'm not so sure about this, though..

answer 3
Unfortunately not. It comes with a 12v car cigarette plug as standard, but you can purchase a 240V mains plug. So you do need a power source of some requirement

It is powered by a 12V cigar-lighter type connection, so you run it from a car.

i think it is plug in only - into a car cigarette lighter socket. Don't think it will run on mains but have not tried. It certainly does not charge.

Question
Is this ok to use on a bike?
My mate has told me you're not supposed to use a pressure washers as the water gets into the bearings, etc. Can anyone tell me if this is true? I hope not as this would be perfect for me as I live in a flat and have real problems keeping my MTB clean!!!

Cheers

Partially true: it really depends on the pressure.. this washer goes up to 130 psi which is not a problem for bearings and the likes.

Also, the spray is adjustable (which makes it possible to change the pressure from 40 to 130) so you can just lower the pressure when going around the delicate parts. Although I never did it and I've never had any problems.

answer 2
Your mate is right regarding Pressure Washers, however it depends on the pressure. MOBI's washers are not as powerful as other pressure washers so they should not damage your bearings. Bike cleaning is shown as a use for the unit on the box. If you are still not sure don't direct the spray at your Bottom Bracket/Headset or any other bearings on your bike.

answer 3
I think so, I've heard the same comments as well about pressure washers. But this washer is no where near as powerful which is ideal. It ranges from a fine spray to a jet wash and even in jet wash it's not massively powerful i.e. I wouldn't use it to clean my patio, but as a generic jet washer it's great.

This is nothing like the pressure you got from a household Jetwash. It is completely safe to use on your bike.

answer 5
The water pressure of the Mobi is perfect for dislodging muck, but isn't too strong to damage seals or bearings.

Obviously keep their exposure to the pressure stream minimal and use a good water dispersant after washing and you should have no problems.

is fine on a bike, just don't use the highest pressure on the areas with bearings, bu t given it's adjustable, you'll be fine.

answer 7
Yep, it's fine on most areas of your bike. Your mate is right in that any high pressure water aimed directly at the bearings may get in. However, with a little care, and not used directly onto the bearings you should be sweet....

I bought this and its brilliant. Its powerful enough for mud etc but not powerful enough to get into bearings like other big pressure washers.

I think alot depends on the quality of the bike / bearings, but generally my mates and I agree the pressure is absoluteley spot on for what its designed for - if you want to wash your patio clean or filthy car than look elsewhere thats not what its for IMO.

You can use these on bikes but you should be wary of bearings, don't directly spray hubs, headsets or bottom brackets as you can wash out the grease from the bearings and cause premature wear.

By turning the plastic bit on the gun, the one that changes the "shape" of the water coming out: if you make it straight, pressure will be high; if you make it more fog-like, pressure will be low.

The pressure variation is controlled by the nozzle, like one of those hand held water spray containers gardeners use

The pressure is adjusted by rotating the nozzle on the gun, you do this by turning the black rubber grip just behind the gold nozzle.

answer 4
The mains adapter wasn't included with mine and I think that's the case for everyone. It doesn't recommend using detergent in it, and to be honest you don't need it as a bit of muc-off or a brush with some washing up liquid will do the job on a bike. Even without detergent you could probably clean a bike fully, although it would take one or two refills as although it's a strong jet, it's not the same as a traditional mains hose-fed power washer.

Yes you can. I wouldn't put boiling water straight from the kettle in it but certainly hot tap water is fine. I wrap mine in a blanket to insulate it then wash my legs, arms and face on the low pressure setting. Nearly as good as a shower!

Question
Can you sell me the mains adapter?
Seems a bit odd that the 240v adapter isn't included; it is from other suppliers. Also, I can't find it on this site and really don't want to be doing a separate order somewhere.

Am I missing it somewhere?
