Questions & Answers for Miche Primato Advanced Silver Track Chainset

Question
1/8 chains
This chainring takes 1/8 chains I assume?
It lists it on other sites, but not Wiggle, just wanted to confirm.

Yes. It's 1/8" which is important as 1/8" chains are much more secure at high pedal rpm and over bumps. 1/8" chains are designed to stay on. Most 3/32" chains are designed to "de-rail". As a bonus - you can buy good 1/8" chains very cheaply. Make sure you also run a 1/8" rear cog.

Question
More detailed description please?
Are the chain-rings for these cranks 1/8 gauge or 3/32?

Are they the 130 BCD or 144?

And is it possible to supply the 650mm size crank-arms with any size chain-ring or just the 48 tooth?

Many thanks.

1/8" and 144mm BCD - I just read it off the packaging I have here. You have to buy your chainring of choice separately. I bought a 46t for my 165's

The chainring fitted is 1/8" 144BCD. The chainsets come as sets so we can't supply the 650mm with a different sized ring, it comes with 48t fitted.

3/32 is the chain link size, which is standard bike, the only thing the item description doesn't say is the width of chain required, but an 8 speed will do.

Description lists the crank length and chainring sizes in teeth....

By the looks of it, the item description describs all you need to know...

The Primato is designed to run with a ISO 107mm bottom bracket axle. If you use a Campagnolo bottom bracket with the same specs you shouldn't have any issues.

How stiff is this crank?

It's thick and doesn't flex that I've noticed. I've just used it to replace an older Miche crankset that was creaking something shocking possibly due to some undertightening at some stage during its lifespan.

This is a track chainset so it may carry some more weight but it will be very stiff.

Question
Chainline
Hi,

In response to another question, Wiggle mentioned this should be paired with an ISO sq taper 107mm BB. Is this designed to give a 42mm chainline or am I going to need to find hubs with a 45mm or other chainline.

Thanks

All frames will require different size components, in order to achieve the desired chainline. Due to different frames having different angles.

Miche Primato cranks and BB - will they suit a Genesis Flyer?

the old BB is 103x68, any ideas if this set up will work? I am not really sure about how you compare chain lines esp when you are replacing the cranks?
