how many tags do you get or is it one purchase per tag so for 3 suitcases adn a bike its 4 units i need to purchase?

You get one plastic tag. You can move the tracker around to other luggage but you will need to get your own extra plastic tags. You can buy these easily enough but it is an extra expense I guess? For extra luggage id see my review on an idea to create your own luggage trackers once you have bought one of these to get the hang of how it all works?

This is one purchase per tag so for 3 bags and a bike you will need to purchase 4 parts.
