Either.
I run mine from my headlight on my MTB with the RedEye mounted on the seatpost. Because the cable isn't long enough to reach the back of the rack on my Hybrid, I run it from a Piggyback battery in my rack bag.
The Piggyback battery comes with an adaptor which accepts the plug on the RedEye.
Excellent bit of kit - buy it!

Unfortunately, it's a case of one or the other.

A good idea for the developers though - with the addition of a smartport on the back of the piggyback battery would let you stack up as many as you like and then a remote switch or a redeye at the end - the ultimate scalable system!

Think it needs to go in the smart port on the front light.

It might fit most MTBs. I guess many people commute on an MTB but I commute on a hybrid with a rack. I can't fit the light with the cable supplied to my seatpost nevermind my rear rack.

It simply isn't long enough IMO to suit most commuters. The cable length needs to be increased.

answer 4
The cable is long enough to get from bar to seatpost on a roadie or mtb. Exposure can extend the cable but unless you have a very big and long bike like a cruiser, you shouldn't need to.
