Questions & Answers for Udderly Smooth Extra Care Cream 8oz

Question
Is this the same as chamoix cream?
This supplier appears to have two similar products - is this the same thing with some added anti-septic, or for biking (non-medical) use would I be better off buying the chamoix cream?

Only if you want the urea content, which is very softening, its usually in foot creams and is slight more expensive because of this. Hope this helps.

I asked myself the same question before buying the "extra care" version. I had already used and liked the "original". So thought, for the sake of a few pence, it was worth a try (it was going to be as good and possibly better!). I can't tell much difference between the two, but would probably still go for the extra care next time.

No, the extra care cream has added urea, more effective in absorbtion of moisture

No it's not the same. The Extra Care cream contains 10% urea and this is not a substance you want in a chamoix cream. The manufacturer describes it as a skin care cream and not as a chamoix cream. Urea softens the skin and, in my opinion, a chamoix cream should only reduce friction by lubricating the skin superficially. I would strongly advise to use the urea-free version for cyclists.

The use of the term 'chamoix cream' is a jargon term for shorts cream and came about when short liners were made of real chamoix leather. Nowadays, the term 'chamoix cream' has been handed down and is used for describing an anti- chaffing cream that goes between you and the synthetic short liner, which, incidently, are far better now than the leather version of the past. A good quality synthetic anti-mould liner, coupled with a quality cream lubricant is almost guaranteed to fend off chaffing and saddles sores.

answer 6
The normal one seems to be more like a moisturiser and normal chamois cream, the extra care version contains urea to help healing process. But this brands extra care version seems too thin to do its job and is absorbed by the skin far too quickly and can't do its job of preventing chaffing. So if you are after something to help prevent chaffing avoid the extra care version.

This is the same as Chamois cream - it just has some added Urea (?!)
Still does a great job at protecting those sensitive areas.

Even though it is marketed as a general skin moisturizer and can be used as such, it definitely can be used a chamois cream as it is based upon their "specific" product but improved.

They are all basically serving the same purpose and I would advise reading the reviews to see which might suit you best.
