From my inspection, you can have bottom pull (which is how I have it set up) or you can have top pull. Just rout the cable through the appropriate path on the arms.

Question
What is the difference between this derailleur and the other SLX triple chainset one?
There are 2 SLX front derailleurs for triple ring chainsets for sale, is there any difference between them other than price?
Would they both work on a 2008 giant yukon with an SLX triple ring chainset?

The difference is the length of the arm which goes from the clam to the cage. I ride a Specialized epic and the seat tube has a welded feature on it just above where I had the deraillure clamped. I mistakenly bought a the long arm XT deraillure and I can't move it up far enough because of the welds, so had to get this one (which is the equivalent of the Deore one that was on it previously). If there's nothing on your seat tube (no bolts or welds) you could probably use either.

The M665 is the newer version, they will both work fine with your triple chainset.

It should work, maybe even better since the extremes in the cassete are closer and there will not be even a minimal rubbing of chain in the front der.

answer 2
Yes this will work, 8 speed chains are a little wider so there may be more contact in use.

Check the seat tube diameter. If the clamp on this mech suits the seat tube diameter then you should be fine.
Then check whether the cable for the mech comes from under the bottow bracket and up to it (bottom pull), or comes down the seat tube to it (which is what I think is the case from a tech drawing of the FD-C102 I googled) - which makes it a top pull.
You will need to get the same pull type and the right clamp diameter (some have multi-diameter clamps).
Just don't buy a bottom bracket plate mount type and you'll be right with almost any shimano front derailleur.

The Shimano fd-c102 is an Alivio front derailleur so you should be able to use any MTB derailleur in the correct speed (e.g. 7, 8 or 9 speed deraileur)

Almost certainly. It's an MTB derailleur so is very likely to be for a triple crankset, not just a double. I believe there is no difference in chainring spacing between road and mountain product ranges (with Shimano at least).
