I am not sure if the ingredients are exactly the same but the gel & the powder DO both contain carbohydrates. This can be checked on their website. Regarding the making of a gel consistency / strength, I had this same question. An email to the manufacturer confirmed that concentrated brews can be made up using energy source etc, therefore I assume the same can be said for their isotonic drink.

No the gels are totally different, these have no carb content and just salts for anti cramping and sweat loss, the gels are for energy, totally different product

This product will make an energy drink rather than the consistency of a gel.
