I'm 5'6" with a 32" waist and found the small to be too small in the waist but ok in length.

The medium which states 35" had me worried but they were fine, there's a draw string on the front to pull them in, they come up over my hips to just under my belly button but I feel comfortable wearing them that high and it keeps me even more dry. So, if you're waist is bigger than 31", you will have to opt for the medium but the length might be an issue.

You will find that the Amberley trousers do have long legs so you can find a pair that fits your waist but you may have trouble with the length.

Question
Are these pants breathable -- is the waterproof membrane also a breathable membrane like gore-tex?
I understand from comments that these are not very breathable, but it's not clear whether they are actually non-porous or just not as breathable as say eVent or GTX?

Hello,

in my experience these are not a breathable trouser. That said they'll keep you drier than nothing at all!

These pants are breathable but not as much as a fully Gore Tex or eVent pant. People will find that if they want a performance overtrouser that they can wear for a proper recreational/race ride they will need something more expensive and more breathable.

You definetly want a large/X-Large.

I'm 5'10" and well built. I chose a Large which fit pretty well.

You will likely get the best fit from the size Medium although the waist size may be a little too large.

These are designed to be worn as trousers but as they have no padding you could wear tights or padded shorts underneath.

These have no pockets, we find most people would rather carry items within a bag or jacket, carrying items in hip pockets can cause harm if you were to have a spill, keys for instance.

Question
Adjustable leg length?
How does the adjustable leg length work and how much variance does it add? I'm 6ft 3 with a 34/35 inch leg and am unsure which size will fit my leg length without the waist being like a tent.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The leg length on these trousers is no adjustable. The Velcro style ankle straps only allow you to get a better fit on the ankle diameter to better fit close to your shoes.
