answer 3
The Edge 705 comes with two mounts but both are identical and will fit the bars or the stem. Just fit the zip ties Lengthways for on the bars or sideways for on the stem. I have mountings on three bikes (It's the only bike computer you need) and mounted on the stem is the best place for it.

yes, this will fit stem and bar. The mount comes with two mounting attachments. One is wider and orientated for stem, the other is narrower and orientated for bar. I have two mounts, one on the bar of my road bike, the other one on the stem of my mtb.

No. You have a base, which can be fitted in two directions i.e for bar or stem plus a rubber packer as necessary. Then an interlocking mount which has to be inserted before fitting the base and securing with the two plastic ties (best to thread these ties through beforehand). When tightening the ties, ensure that the tie locks and cut ends are positioned so that they are unlikely to catch your hands. Best to leave the ties uncut for the first few rides, so that repositioning or tightening is possible, (if left uncut, you can also carefully unlock the ties using a pin or similar).

I emailed Garmin with this very same question. Here is their response....

"The bike mount part of the quick release kit is the standard quarter turn mount.
If you already have the other components and just require to mount to another bike then the purchase of just the standard quarter turn mount would be all that is required. "
