If the bike obscures your lights and number plate you should fit a trailer board to be totally legal,

Yes you do, but don't butyt the expensive Thule one. Get a cheaper one and use the Thule adaptor to clip it into the carrier

by the letter of the law, yes, if your number plate is obscured when driving. However, I've never used an extra plate, and I've not had any issues or been stopped in two years

You will likely need a lightboard with number plate fitted as this will cover at least some of your number plate and lights. All cars are different though so you should try before you commit to a lightboard purchase.

Re: Thule 970 Xpress 2 Bike Towball Carrier

Fits only onto a standard (ISO) 50mm tow bar.

Quite a snug tight fit.

Been on the French motorway at speed and it never budged

Stands about 3" out from rear door / boot lid.

the item fits only to your tow bar. This is the ease of using this item. It can't be fitted to a car without one

answer 3
This bike carrier fix to the towball on the towbar by locking metal tube pieces to both sides of the towball. This is the lowest part of the bike carrier.

It fits any ISO standard (50mm) towball. Most countries in the world outside the US are using this.

The bike carrier can be tilted slightly backwards, but I doubt it'd fit if you had a tyre on the door. Vertical is the best mounting angle anyway.

Re: Thule 970 Xpress 2 Bike Towball Carrier

Once you have a standard 50mm tow bar on your Peugeot, this should work and work well.

I have reviewed this product quite positively.

I liked it so much that I got a second one for use here at home.

I paid €61 in France for this item and £51 (had £5 discount voucher) plus postage from Wiggle to Ireland so while it's a good item, don't pay much more for it.

Hope this assists your purchase.

I have a saloon car also - Mazda 6. There is no problem carrying two bikes with this product. It is strong and sturdy and well worth the money.

This is the best rack I've ever bought - it mounts and removes in one simple movement. No fuss and time wasting, or scratching your car, plus super stable when driving.
Only drawback is you need a tow bar fitted to use it.

you don't need any extra items when using this bike rack, except of course the tow hook

answer 2
The rack itself shouldn't cover the lights but with the bikes attached the fixture will cover the number plate and probably some of the lights too. You should use a light board and number plate.

For use with sloped top tube ladies bikes you need to use the 981 or 982 adapter which we do not currently stock.

Re: Thule 970 Xpress 2 Bike Tow ball Carrier

I use it on a Ford Focus but also have a 520 that I don't use it on.

( I stood it up against the rear of the 520 in place where a tow ball would sit, even on the removable type and it sits about 3" to 4" out from the boot lid)

Once the tow ball is the standard ISO 50mm size, then yes, it will fit quite comfortably

Hope this is some assistance.

Question
970 Xpress with a Land Rover Discovery?
Hi,
I was just wondering if I could use this item to carry a bike on the back of my Discovery 3? I have a towbar, so thats OK, but I wondered if the handlebars (mountain bike) would hit the rear window? I normally only carry 1 bike at a time.
Could someone please be kind enough to measure from the centreline of the 970 to the rearmost point of the car, so I can see if I'd have clearance for my bike?
Hope someone can help!
Thank you!!
