I have a Renault Espace with pre-fitted roofbars. Does anyone know what width (thickness) bars the carrier will attach to. I don't want to have to purchase additional bars if I can avoid it.
Thanks

Hopefully by now someone else has answered your question. If not - and you still have the car ;0) - The 530 fits to my mark 3 Espace with no problems. Just protect the bars from getting damaged by the bolts.

Question
Will it fit XL downtubes?
I have a Focus Cayo (XXL 60cm) & am wondering if the clamp opens wide enough for the XL downtube that the bike has?

I've got the Halfords Advanced cycle carrier, I believe that these are made by Thule and look identical. They quite happliy take my Boardman Team Carbon and I'm sure they'll be ok with the Cayo.

I've got 3 of these racks. You can just about make out the clips in the picture that allow the down tube clamp bolt to be altered. It will take a very large range of tube sizes and I'm sure it would cope with the Cayo.

Re. Thule FreeRide 530 bike carrier. With the 45mm spacer in place, my 26mm diameter bike just wobbles around. Should I cut the spacer down?

It is up to you, but I did on one of my holders. I also cut a little of the spacer, then put it in a vise to put a kink in the spacer, that way it will close smaller but still push open to the full width. Obviously take the spacer off first and put it length ways between the jaws.

If you need to you should cut the spacer down. As long as you are sure you can get a secure fit from it as the bike does need to be 100% secure.
