Garmin MapSource® compatible?
Hi,

I want to use this with the English Japanese map available here. http://uud.info/en/navi/

However I'm told I need Garmin MapSource® or Garmin Trip and Waypoint Manager to transfer maps.

Will I need to buy this separately? What is it - software?

Garmin Mapsource is a free download and is used to trim and upload maps, routes, waypoints etc.

By trimming the maps in Mapsource you can reduce their size allowing you to store multiple maps for different occasions such as cycle route maps, ski maps, town maps etc.

You can also download Garmin Training Centre software for free but I prefer Sporttracks to analyse and view rides.

Not sure about the Trip and Waypoint software but you can edit waypoints in mapsource and/or Training Centre.

Sort of.

It can show a compass that points to the next waypoint of a route you are following. You have to be moving to get a direction as there is not an actual compass in the device.

Its a bit anoying as the maps tends to jump all over the place when you stop.

Still a very good piece of kit though.

The only time an electronic compass is only displayed when you are navigating a route to a waypoint. The compass then shows you which direction you need to be travelling.

It charges by USB so I'm sure you can. If you use the backlight sparingly the internal battery last quite a while.

You cannot use the device while it is charging.

Sorry I am not able to offer any personal advice here but the maps are available here; https://buy.garmin.com/shop/buymaps.do and it would depend on what type of aerobars you are using.

An inside taste has changed into edge605 if it sees on a Japanese page though it is "Garmin Edge 705 Heart Rate Monitor".
Please tell me. Is it a simple mistake?Is edge605 sent?

I'm confused! Do you need to buy a map card (extra cost) to make use of the 705, or does it come preloaded with UK maps. Or does it use Google maps?
