Questions & Answers for Met Inferno UltimaLite Road Helmet - 2011

Question
Sizing M or L?
My head size measures 57.5cm which is right between medium and large. Which one would be recommended for size? I would ideally prefer a smaller size for less bulk but obviously it needs to fit ones head. For reference I comfortably wear a medium in Giro or Bell helmets.

My head is the same size...I went for the large and at first it felt a bit bit but after using the adjustment available it fits perfect and on the cold Scottish mornings I can get a thin skull cap under and open up the straps a bit.

Go with the medium. I measured up at 58 and got the large and its pretty big lid, pretty sure I'd fit the medium.

I chose the Met Inferno medium. Like you I was right between medium and large. Both fit fine but the medium was definitely less bulky.

Mine was manufactured Jun 2010 but, of course, this just shows the Inferno is a current model.

Question
Australian Standard
Do these helmets come with the Australian Standards sticker required by law here and if not is that a problem in the event of an accident and potentially not having a certified helmet on?

This helmet does meet Australian standards - they sell the exactly the same product in bike stores in South Australia...only difference is the price!!

Since they come from Europe direct, they do not get issued with an Australian standards sticker, but when I looked into it last year, they are exactly the same helmet as you would get in any retail store down under. A very small % of the imports are taken aside for testing, if they pass, all are stickered as complying.

From an insurance perspective if that is what you are worried about, I'm unsure if they would take you to task on that point. However, from a safety and cost perspective, you can buy helmets from Wiggle significantly cheaper than any store in Oz, thereby getting a top of the range lid for the price of a mid-range helmet in a store.

All I can say is that it doesn't come with the Aussie Standards Sticker. I made sure it was a model sold in Australia. What repercussions this has legally I don't know.

Don't know if it is valid or not, but it is CE stamped only. No AS sticker, so might not be good in events.

In order to cycle on the road or compete in a race it may be a legal requirement in your country to wear a helmet certified to a specific standard or an international equivalent. All helmets sold on Wiggle are certified and labelled with either a European CEN standard or a US CPSC standard. Please check your country’s requirements to see if this is sufficient and if necessary contact the manufacturer to see if this helmet has been additionally certified for your country.
