the casette lockring removal tool certainly worked with my tiagra setup OK.

Question
Instructions for use
I am new to bicycle maintainence and have just bought this tool kit.

Are there any instructions on how to use the tools?

How do I identify and find out what each tool in the kit does? I am ok with the basics (spanners, hex keys) it is the more specialist tools I am struggling with.

I went a bought a bike repair manual. Haynes and also the rough ride technical manual are good. Both describe the tools and how to use them:)

I suggest you get a book on bike maintenance or join a course (if this is available locally). The book I recommend is the Mag Book called the Ultimate Guide to Bicycle Maintenance.

If you have a helpful local bike shop it may also be worth getting them to do a job for you the first time and asking them to let you watch what they do.

I recently replaced my gear cassette and rear wheel (shimano wh r500 and tiagra 9 speed) and had no problems doing so. The shimano cassette ring wrench and chain whip did the trick wonderfully. Cranks I don't know as I haven't needed to replace them but if the 6700 is anythng like my Tiagra then you are going to need a large hex key to remove the crank arms which is not in this set, at least not that I can see.
Otherwise I would say this is a very useful kit and though a couple of the tools I haven't a clue what they are for yet I suspect I may find out in due time.

If you have the 6700 series I think you have the Ultegra series which has the hollowtech crank (google this if you don't know what I mean) The Tool kit comes with the hollowtech crank tool and cap remover. The casette is removed with the chain whip and locknut tool, both of which also come with the tool kit

NO NO NO. I bought this tool set under the impression that it can deal with older ISIS/octalink BBs. It can deal with the crank-arms but not the BBs. It's a silly omission from a basic toolkit - external BBs are far from ubiquitous. There is a tool for external BBs

Hi
It should do the trick.
However if you are looking specifically for a crank remover tool, buy just that, as this set is of poor quality, and you probably have got the allen keys and wrenches already!
