Questions & Answers for Assos Chamois Cream

Question
Where to apply?
Do you really put this where I think you do? Or more on the cheeks?

Put it where the chamois meets or rubs your skin. This is often at the groin area/top of leg where the chamois pad can chafe away the skin and hair. Don't really need a lot on the cheeks unless they wobble around a lot!!

Yeah, put it right where it rubs, pal! Not as unpleasant as it sounds, and certainly not as unpleasant as rubbing em raw.

On those parts of your anatomy in contact with the pad on your shorts and via that your saddle. I apply it to the skin, some prefer to put it on the pad. I also use it with unpadded tights. Works fine.

My recommendation is to place it there as the area overheats so you need to keep it cool

Where ever the body hits the Chamois this could be applied. I would put it only where you get sore as full coverage of the under carriage could be a little OTT

i've been smearing it on the chamois, especially along the seams that hit the inner thigh where a lot of friction is. anything that's left over goes right on me. it's worked like a dream

The new Assos chamois cream packaging says not to apply it directly to any "mucous membranes". It is quite tingly (cooling) even when applied to the more sensitive dangly areas of the male anatomy - some might say it was uncomfortable. On the cheeks is great, on the chamois works really well. Deeper crevices - men and women - beware!

Question
What is good for nipple burn
Saw this cream "Assos Chamois Cream" on the Cycling section of Wiggle, and you bike riders appear to rate it highly for the inner thighs. I am a runner and suffer from Nipple Burn on longer runs, do any of you sports people out there know if the Assos Chamois Cream gives adequate protection for this problem?

Well, with the protective barrier it gives me in the nether regions, LOL!! I cna only guess that it will work wonders for your nipples. Also you wont need as much so it will go along way.
Hope that helps

I have never used this product for such protection, however can recommend some possible remedies for your situation.

Firstly, Vaseline, or another petroleum jelly provides excellent protection for nipple burn (having experienced this pain in the past). Either that, or elastoplast over the nipple can help by providing a barrier between your skin and the vest / tshirt.

Howeover, my primary recommendation, and something which I do myself as a runner, is to wear a lycra based compression top underneath my vest, or just wear that. This has totally eliminated the issue of nipple burn. I recommend Nike Pro products for this.

Hope that helps.

A also used Assos on my feet for running, as I can get blisters underneath my big & little toes. It worked, it is after all an anti-friction cream. I suggest you put some Assos on one nipple & leave the other free & see how it goes.

used to suffer sometimes from this myself during my running days. I have not tried this product for this problem but i found that nipple burn was more to do with the quality of the running gear than anything else

I wouldn't use it on your nips - it'll just run! Instead, use a product that comes in a stick form - such as Bodyglide - used by triathletes to stop wetsuits rubbing - which is also excellent for preventing sore nipples.

I wouldn't put this on my nipples. It has some properties that make me think it would sting and dry out nipples.

I'd stick to something like body glide.

This product may help, but I would recommend 'body glide' for a tenner or good old 'vaseline' both will do the trick.

I would not put this on my nipple as it has a slight tingle which may be uncomfortable. You could try it out but not before a run.
I think Vaseline is the best for nipple rub

I use this every time I cycle with my cycling shorts, bib pants, some of which are gel based. No obvious signs of wear, other than that expected from use. Should be fine, as it soaks into your skin rather than sits on top.

Yes you can use it on gel pads and they shouldn't deteriorate. Product washes out in normal wash.

Haven't used it long enough but the label doesn't warn against it. Considering they both co-habit in the same space, it wouldn't make sense in my view.

I've used this cream with gel pads for years and had no issues where the pads have deteriorated. Although I put my bike gear straight in the wash when I get home, so the cream doesn't linger within the pads anyway.

I would imagine if you let the cream get caked up within the pads that may cause some problems for the pads, and your bits!

It'll be fine but I personally wouldn't put it on the pad - modern pads don't need cream.

What it does is prevent little infections from bacteria buildup and prevents any sore spots from chaffing or rubbing if you're riding for 5+ hours.

There's a slight menthol style cool tingle on your skin a few minutes after application. It's a remarkably pleasant sensation in case that sounds horrible.
