it is possible but i wouldn't advise it as the rivets on the rotor catch on the brake pads.i tried it for a while on my juicy 5's but i wasn't happy.

The pads on the Avid brakes have a tab at the bottom that rubs on the rivets of the hope rotors when the pads are worn. This can cause issues so generally we can't recommend using the Hope rotors. People have modified their brakes to run with the Hope rotors but this is not advisable.

Works like a charm! I use 180mm front and 160mm rear on my Shimano XT 4-pots and the fit is perfect. For the front I use a Shimano 20+ adapter to go from 160mm to 180mm.

As long as the diameter matches your existing rotor it should be fine. Floating means it has a small amount of movement on the rotor spider.

Question
can you use hope floating rotors with Avid Elixir cr brakes
I am using a set of the 160 rotors with Elixir calipers and there are no problems and they work great.

We can't recommend that you do this as we can't predict if there will be any contact between the rotor and your brake caliper in use. You should contact Avid to be sure but be aware that it will likely void the warranty on your brakes if you do so.

Haven't tried with the Shimano but the 183 on AVID Juicy Ultimate just wouldn't work without modifying the brake mount; they're definitely a bit thicker!

I beleive there is a issue with the rivets catching on some brake calipers so I can't recommend that you use this Rotor on Shimano brakes.

Question
Is the 183mm Thicker than the 160mm?
I know from previous experience that some Hope rotors are thicker than others, usually the larger ones. Can you confirm the thickness of both rotors? I believe the 160mm is 2mm
They fit a hope X2 tech rota and lever combination so in theory yes. If you are doing this for weight don't bother you are saving around 9 grams for the 183 version! but they do look great that is why I have them!
