Can the Avid G2s and Gs be used to upgrade disks that were originally bought with Avid BB7 mechanical disk brakes? Can any 6 bolt disks be used?

Yes they can, provided you use the corresponding adaptor to mount your caliper to the frame.

You can use the Avid G rotors with other Avid brakes but not all 6 bolt rotors will work with all brakes. Some have different thicknesses of brake surface which can cause issues.
