Hope Pro3 Mono Road Rear Hub

The new Pro3 hub replaces the Mono hubs. With the proven range of Pro2s having gone from strength to strength since they were launched, the Pro3 is the development of that hub, and is specifically aimed at road and non disc users.

Questions & Answers for Hope Pro3 Mono Road Rear Hub

Question
size
I have normal road wheels 700c, 9 speed shimano............should I go for 130mm or 135mm......other than the one being, presumably 5mm wider, what is the difference?

The 5mm wider'yness is the only difference. What you'll need to do is find out what the distance is between your rear drop outs (the bits of the bike that the rear hub will slot on to).

Get the hub that measured the closest.

Depends on the bike. 130 for road, 135 for mtb.

The shimano hubs are. I'm using one with 105 but Ultegra 10 speed is the same

Yes. The hub's spline for the cassette will come either in Shimano or Campagnolo, so you'll need a Shimano hub for it to work.

135mm wide. Hubs are not designed for trials though they are too lightweight. Pro2 would be better.

Measure the distance across the rear dropouts with a micrometer. Or the overlock nut distance of your existing wheels hub
Most MTB group sets are 135mm and road groupsets are 130mm

Measure between the inside faces of the rear dropouts of your frame to be sure, but essentially 130mm for a road frame and 135mm for a MTB frame. Be aware that older road frames will be less than 130mm and may need cold setting - search for this term on the internet.

Question
hope hub for a touring v-break bike
I'm writing as I need some professional tech support concerning your products.

First of all, I'm extremely interested in buying one of your rear hubs [to start with then I would like to go with the front one.]

I need a heavy duty rear hub and use v-break system that's why my original thought was to go with Pro 3 Mono Hub. However, I started to think that, as this hub was designed with road cyclists in mind, it might not have been designed for dealing with large loads. Hence my question: should I rather choose Pro 2 Evo Hub [because of its rigidity] although I'm not going to instal disc brakes? This could spoil the looks, but I think it would work perfectly with my 9 speed Shimano XT cassette. Am I right here?

Or maybe, I can install the Pro 3 Mono hub without any risk of destroying it because of the heavy loads?

Important info: I weigh about 110 kilos [cir. 220 pounds] + another 20 kilos [40 pounds] of gear above the rear wheel. I ride almost only on asphalt roads but, as always, there are occasional bumps in the road or a short distance on gravel. I want to use a Mavic A319 rim and 700x40C tyres.

I would be grateful for you help.

I can conform that either hub would be compatible, however I would advise the 36 hole option for both.

Yes, the Shimano freehub is compatible as long as the spacer supplied with the cassette is used.
