answer 1
I think you will find it is durable enough to take shocks and rocks of off roading, but I question the output for Night of Roading, the beam is quite narrow and you need something even more widespread than this. This has been produced for night road users and as such is great. I wouldn't use it off roading at night, night nearly enough wide beam to see what you want to avoid.

answer 2
No - I use it for country roads at night - wouldn't want to use it off road at night. Definitely not. It's durable enough, just not bright enough.
answer 3
I would be careful as I read some reviews that said it bounced out of the holder on rough trails. Also its a plastic case. If I was you I would get a light with a metal case which would be tougher for trail riding. I use this for commuting only.

Hi, light level wise, it may just about be as long as the batteries are well charged. Wouldn't recomend it though, you're better off looking at spending a lot more on a rechargeable unit, with much better light levels. Maybe look at Exposure Spark or upwards? Exposure lights have mountings for helmets etc. too - much more what you need on trails.
Shock wise - I dropped one from two feet onto concrete and it smashed the fragile plastic case right where it screws together. It looks very weak there.
This light definitely isn't designed for rough use, in my o. I'd stick to commuting with it.

answer 5
It's light and its center of gravity is very close to the handle. Also the grip is rubber, so i'd say it's suitable.

answer 6
It's a decent light for road use but I wouldn't use it off road. The standard Cateye mounts are not the strongest and the light is quite bulky so I think it might fall off over hard bumps and as it has a hard case (no rubberised padding) it could break quite easy. Also i don't know if it would throw enough light for a dark trail at night unless you go quite slow. It's a bright but fairly narrow beam.
For off road MTB use at night you need to spend quite a lot more and get something dedicated for the job.

answer 7
The light will hold up to the bumps and vibration of the trail but you will not get enough light from this unit to light the way at night. You will need a significantly brighter light to ride off road.
