Customer Questions & Answers for
Continental Grand Prix 4000 Road Tyre

The new reference standard for racing tyres and the successor to the highly popular Grand Prix 3000 now has 20% less rolling resistance and an even lighter weight. The new puncture resistance! The all new Vectran Breaker: belt, developed and patented by Continental, surpasses even the famous puncture resistance of the former leader in this category, the GP3000. The extremely strong Vectran fabrics are more flexible and lighter than all other puncture protection materials. Vectran offers more resistance to cuts than Aramid, is five times as strong as steel and features less weight than a nylon double breaker. It also maintains strength in the wet. Vectran is used in extreme sports applications such as sailcloth for offshore competition yachts. It is also used by NASA to make airbags for absorption during lunar landings. The new compound The black GP4000 tyre options feature the revolutionary Black Chili compound whilst the coloured options use advanced Activated Silica Compound (ASC) to increases the handling threshold and reduce the rolling resistance of the Grand Prix 4000 compared to the previous ASC compound. A new anti-cracking formula prevents UV light from damaging the compound and increases the mileage performance. The new tread features new tread wear indicators to help riders gauge the life of their GP4000 tyre. On the one hand you don't lose mileage performance by prematurely replacing the tyre and on the other you don't risk safety by using the tyre beyond its tread service life

140psi is the max for any clincher. Why you would want more than 120psi is beyond me.

You should be able to, it is less about the rim, more about the space on your frame/round the brakes. I would expect you can, just try it with an older 25 tyre and see how you go.

answer 2
usually yes. The only restriction when you choose a bigger tyre, is the width of your fork where the tyre goes. But switching from 23 to 25 mm is not a problem.

I can't see a problem with this. I have never seen a rim that couldn't manage a 22mm and not a 23mm or vis versa. The 23 mm will be slightly more comfortable and with no less performance.

Question
Black with Reflex also a Black Chili tire?
Several of the GP 4000 models are now being formulated with black chili. I know this applies to the black/black models (a previous question and answer). Does it also apply to your current stock of "700x25 Black/Black Reflex" tires?
