these take 2 standard size AAA batteries, these are included with the light so are ready to use straight away.
use good quality batteries (2000mAh +) and you can expect approx 200 hours of life out of a set ( though this depend on the mode you choose to use these lights on), it is advisable to change the batteries before they are fully exhausted because even though they will continue to work, the light output will dim as the batteries weaken.

The lights affixes with a screw and bolt that holds together two semi circle brackets - not a clip.

It does have a clip mount that I use to clip it to my Topeak small Aero saddle bag. The Topeak Aero does not have a 'braided' loop. It has a flat strip of stiff material sewn onto the rear of the bag for attaching lights and other things.
