Questions & Answers for Tacx Spider Professional Workstand

Question
can you attach bike by seat post?

Hi, yes you can, but your seatpost would have to be extended by at least 11cm (four and a quater inches in old money), because that is the length of the clamp that holds the bike.
However, why would you want to hold the bike by the seatpost? That would put a lot of strain on the seatpost bolt/clamp; not good. Please, don't do it.
Hope this helps, redjohn60.

answer 2
Yes, you can. However, the width of the clamp means that that I would have to have my seat post fully extended and I would also need to remove a reflector. However, the clamp is well made and I do not think it would damage crossbar paintwork - it certainly hasn't on my bike.

I'd say the stand is ok to use on any bike. The clamp will hold the cross bar or seat post. The seat post is favorite, especially with carbon frames apparently.

If you have about 4" of seatpost out of the frame then there should be enough room to clamp them. I have 2 mtb bikes and a road bike and it handles all of them fine. Weight of heaviest bike is approx 25lbs.

You can always turn the clamp sideways to clamp the top tube although I have not done this.
