They are designed to work in line with traditional drop bar shifter/levers to provide an additional braking control position on the top of handlebars. Crosstops are compatible with caliper or cantilever brakes. They are available in two different sizes to fit 26.0mm and 31.8mm handlebars.
Questions & Answers for Cane Creek Crosstop Brake Levers
Question
Would one of these work as the only brake on a fixed gear?
I want to run straight bars on my Pearson Touche fixed gear with just a front brake lever (perhaps a Cane Creek crosstop). Hence I need to know that crosstops can be connected up directly with the brakes calipers and not rely upon being connected to the brake lever on the hoods too. Thank you.
I have seen this done but haven't actually tried it myself. Apparently it works fine. Does look a bit odd though since the metal end of the brake cable is exposed. Good luck!

No, these are designed to fit with brake cables that run alongside grooves of handlebars, that are internally routed through the brake levers.

Yes, you can use almost any brake lever with V brakes, only the amount of 'play' will vary (ie the distance between the rim and the brake pad) with levers having varying amounts of 'pull'. Just tune your brakes properly.

You will need a round clamping area for cross top levers to be fitted. Most aero shaped bars allow brake lever fitment at some point. If possible you should contact sales@wiggle.co.uk with more information so we can suggest a alternative route for you.

These levers are compatible with the dia compe 188 levers aslong as the brake cable is not routed through the bars. Any normal MTB barrel end cables will fit these 2 levers as the crosstop lever uses its own system to clamp the cable.
