Question
Are these suitable for my bike?
I have a Claud Butler Classic Hybrid which has 700 * 38c tyres. Presumably these, or any 700 * 38c tyre are suitable for my bike?

Yes, any 700 * 38c will do the job. The Marathon Plus's could be a bit of a tight fit on your rims - they are on mine. But they will go on with careful use of a tyre lever.

Question
Do these Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700X38c have reflective sidewall bands?
I only ask because the next level down Schwalbe Marathon (non-Plus) product description makes a point of saying that it's reflective but no mention is made of reflectivity for the Plus.

I know of people who have replaced 23's for 28's. The tyre will come within 3mm of the frame, and yes it will fit even on a shorter wheelbased bike. I have also found it easier to let air out of the tyres when putting the wheel in the frame as the wider tyre can sometimes foul on smaller road type brakes

Shouldn't really be a problem as long as you have frame/brake clearance.

It's a small change in tyre width so should be no problem on the rim. Thing to be aware of is whether you have enough clearance for to the frame and mudguards for wider tyres. if the frame's ok then som adjustments to the mudguards would probably be all that's needed. Ian

I have 700 x 38 fitted to my Electric Bike which have Mudguards.

The problem is that fitting higher means that there will not be much clearance between tyre tread & Mudguards,

The Max I can get is 700-38 higher causes less clearance smaller feels like you have no tryes on the bike, & going high speed on corners feels like they are coming off the rims.

I don't think I could get 700-40 they be rubbing the tyre treads.

This depends on how much clearance you have and how narrow your guards are. They are bulky. I have 700 X 28s on bikes built for 27" rims so they are OK with wider mudguards in the main.

I have used several different size inner tubes sizes with my tires ranging from 700x38c to 70025c. None have caused problems to date so I would say that it is Ok.

If the tube is specified for 700 x 32c they should also be fine for 38c tyres. That's the same size tubes I use in my 38c tyres and have been running it like that for about 5000kms now with no problems.

None, I think c stands for cicumference.

35 is the width of the tyre anyhow, I've used 32 to 38 on my hybrid now use 35.
38 was a little too fat.

700x35 and 700x35c will be the same width and diameter tyre. The C is sometimes (but now less often) used by some manufacturers to indicate inner diameter of a tire, in this case C standing for 622mm (which is a 700 sized tyre)

Question
Tyre Size
Hi, I have just started to get back into cycling, after a few years, and the tye sizes seem to have many different codes.

I am interested in the Schwalbe Marathon Plus Smartguard Tyre.

My current MTB tyres are 26x3.25

Are these tyres available in this size?
as I'm not sure on the conversions?

Sorry, feeling stupid having to ask what is probably a basic question.

The MTB version of Marathon Plus tyres only go up to a 2.1 - this being the dimension across the rim. There is always some degree of latitude as rubber is flexible but the difference between 2.1 inches and 3.25 inches is possibly a bridge too far. I can't say for sure. You could buy and return if they don't fit, or try your local bike shop - this is where their advice sets them apart from wiggle!

3.25 inches - what are you riding, some sort of tractor?!

This tyre is a 700c hybrid tyre, it looks like you need an MTB tyre 26x2.35? If so these are worth looking at http://www.wiggle.co.uk/mc/cycle/7/...

You could also fit a narrower tyre, such as a 26x1.75

Question
Size of these tyres
Hi,

I recently purchased these to replace a 700x28c set of Maxxis Detonators which came with my Boardman Comp Hybrid as I kept getting punctures. (http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_502557)

However when I've just tried to fit these they seem very big and I can't get them on.

Any suggestions? Should I exchange for a smaller tyre?

I also had to replace the detonators on my Boardman comp after ~2000 km. If you got the 700x28 then these should fit.

I've been using the Vittoria 700x28 and as replacements they've been fine.
