what size?
my tyres maximum inflation is 116 psi. but one 16 g co2 will take it to 130 psi. but a 12 g would take it to 90 psi. which catridge should i get?

As the extra weight and cost is negligible you may as well go for the bigger cartridge, to be safe.

However, if you also carry a pump, you can always put a small amount of air in the tube first, then complete the fill with the 12g cartridge.

Buy the 16g ones as when inflating you are bound to loose a bit of the gas and probably only get a maximum inflation of 120psi max.
Also I have found that when checking the pressure/firmness of the tyre, the valve freezes and leaks some air. More gas, more chances to get home.

get the 16g there is that bit of leaway if you dont conect to the valve properly. for the price better to have to much and let some out than not enough

it depends on what pressures you ride at.
if you are happy riding at 90 psi (depends on your weight, terrain, riding style etc) then 12g cartridge would be ok for you.
personally for my road bike, it has tyre with a max pressure of 130psi but i ride at 110psi.
i always buy the 16g cartridges.

Yes these cartridges will work, the second wind pumps use threaded cartridges.
