Salmon is wet conditions, black is dry. Not sure about othor colours.

Yes, some of the colours are different compounds. As per information on Kool Stop's official website:
Black - dry weather.
Salmon - "extreme conditions".
Blue, Silver, Yellow or Red - these are all rounders. No difference between these colours.

The colours specify the following:

Black - Dry condition compound

Salmon - Extreme conditions compound (wet, mud, dry)

Blue, Silver, Yellow, Red - All conditions compound

Maybe! Toe the pads in to reduce noise - i.e angle them slightly to the rim. You could also try some brake cleaner from your local auto store or Muc Off do one.

There are many explanations for squeaky pads, It simply may be down to a dirty rim and pads, try sanding the pads down and cleaning the rim. Then check that the pads are not at an angle and that all bolts on the brake are tight, After that I would suggest looking at upgraded pads.
