Customer Questions & Answers for
Continental Tube of Tubular Cement for Aluminium Rims

The aluminium rim cement for tubulars, in the typical continental yellow packaging, has proven itself for decades. Generations of racing cyclists and mechanics rely on this cement. Maxiumum safety is acheived with high adhesive strength and good processability, the most important aspect of cemented tyres. The classic bead guarantees a pefect fit and the application is conventional. However, processing differs entirely from that of carbon cement, so please always pay attention to the application information.

I manage 2, though I'm fairly skimping on the amout I use as I find it sticks well enough with one coat of cement on the rim alone.

I've been told two however I'm not sure if I used half a tub when I fitted one tyre recently, and I didn't skimp when applying. It's not the biggest tub of glue but I've got mine as back-up in case I run out of tape.

No. You must use the specific cement for carbon rims. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/au/continental-tin-of-tubular-cement-for-carbon-rims/ I'm not sure if a small tube is available but a small tube of cement is really only just enough to do 1 new wheel.

is rim tape needed as well or do you just coat the rim?

Just coat the rim but clean the rim first-if old glue there this can be tricky but some petrol on a rag will take it off! most glues suggest one coat then leave to get sticky (10-15 mins) then a second coat leave for another 10 mins then put the tub on and make sure it is centered-inflate but not too hard then leave overnight and inflate more before you ride.

You shouldn't need rim tape as you glue/tape tyres to the rim.
