Before I saw the previous answer I picked up a set. The rubber on the pontoons did have to be trimmed a bit but so far they seem to work fine.

I found out the hard way that they don't work... even after spending ages hacking away the rubber pontoons to make them fit :(

"Warning - the newish Shimano cleats with rubber pontoons (SH71) will not work with Shimano A520 SPD pedals. The rubber outriders foul the pedal and you cannot lock-in. I was foolish enough to file them down thinking they would work when they were more worn down, Wrong! I managed to get the pedal/cleat locked together but then could not release them. Eventually I had to dis-assemble the pedals to free them."

SPD SL are 3 bolt, SPD's are 2 bolt so they are not interchangable.

Question
These cleats are incompatible with my DHB R1 road shoes as the screws are too small. Are there any other SPD roat cleat that would be compatible?
Unfortunately the cleat bolts on these cleats are short considering they need to pass through two plates amd the cleat to reach the mountings. You will need to purchase longer cleat bolts which we do not currently supply.

These cleats will not work with your pedals but will fit your shoes. You require these cleats which will also fit your shoes: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Shimano_SPD_MTB_Cleats/4000000886/
