Question
Will these pedals and clips fit my cycle shoes
I received the dhb M1 cycle shoes for xmas. Can you advise if the following Pedal and cleats will be best for my shoes:

Shimano M424 SPD Pedals; and
Shimano SPD MTB Cleats.

In respect of cleats 'I am a novice', should I have Multi Release or Standard Release?

Many Thanks

Definitely multi-release, no performance difference but improved chance of getting out in an emergency, which adds confidence to your ride.

I've got M424 SPD pedals with one pair of shoes with SH56 cleats and another pair of shoes with SH51.

The SH56 are multi release, which I prefer - as a relative novice!

i bought multi release and standard and went with the standard release. I am a novice aswell, i just set the release setting low so i can get out easy. they are fine and means you wont accidentally come out if jumping etc

I also have dhb shoes and am a cleat "novice", bought the M424 pedals and they are great so far. Would have thought standard release would suit you best initially. Only thing I would say is make sure you slacken off the bindings significantly before you try locking-in otherwise you might struggle to unlock (I had to take my foot out of the shoe still attached to the pedal...)

answer 5
Hi, any MTB specific pedal should work with your shoes. I would recommend the M520 pedals if you can stretch your budget, as the release is adjustable. I think standard release is fine, just make sure you practice engaging and disengaging a few times on a nice quiet road before you head for the hills!

answer 6
Yes these pedals and cleats will fit your shoes. You should probably use multi release, which allow you to unclip from the pedals by twisting your ankle in either direction rather than straight outwards. Pedals are supplied with cleats so you don't have to purchase cleats separately from the pedals. The cleats supplied are standard release though, either way the cleats will take a little getting used to so try the standard release first before you decide if you want to change to Multi release.

Question
Do these come with reflectors?
The shimano website specifies the SM-PD40 reflector set, which does not appear to be available separately?... http://www.shimano.com.au/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/Pedals/SM-PD40/SI-PD40C-ENG_v1_m56577569830606548.pdf

answer 2
If you can't find reflectors for them then have a look at your cranks. If they're got square edges then buy some reflective tape and use a craft knife to cut it to fit. I used a white 3M A4 sheet bought from Wiggle and the result was very fine: the movement of the cranks really made the bike stand out, so it captured the best feature of the pedal reflectors.

Yes these pedals are unisex. They use a 2 bolt cleat so you will need a shoe from the offroad shoes section: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/c/Womens/11/Shoes_-_Cycle_Offroad/
