Question
Most suitable chain for an 8-speed HG50 cassette?
I have an HG50 11-30 8spd cassette, running with a Deore Derailleur (2008 model).

Is this this the best chain for me? Can you recommend another from this store?

i recently needed to replace an HG50 Chain

I tried an HG40 which my local shop said would fit, I tried the HG40 but found that it ran a bit less smoother & not so good at gear changes.

My rear set is a Freewheel HG50 the chain is HG50 I am going to keep to the same spec eg HG50 Chain 7/8 Speed as the lower spec HG40 did not run very well.

What is the connecting link?
What connecting link does this chain use? Is it like SRAM? I have a 7 speed Iron Horse and I'd love to be able to swap chains without a chain tool.

This chain does not have a connection link, you would need a chain tool to fit it.

This chain uses a standard pin connection that requires a chain tool.

Compatible with circa 2001 Shimano Deore 8/24 speed?
I'm looking ot replace my chain for the first time on a bike I bought circa 2001. It has a Shimano Deore gear set with 8 rear and 3 front cogs. Is this the correct chain or would another one be more suitable?

The HG50 chain is the same width as the HG70, it comes with the same style of fitment and 2 joining pins.
