Questions & Answers for Topeak Super Tourist Rear Rack

Question
Is this compatible with a disc brake?
I'm told that most racks are compatible with disc brakes, even though there are specific 'disc brake' racks. Need to know if the Topeak Tourist rack will fit my bike (Giant Yukon with discs)

Can't speak for your frame but I've fitted one to a small Kinesis frame. The bottom fixing lug on the frame is next to the drop out and the caliper is by Hope. If necessary, the stay on the carrier could be pushed further away from the hydraulic cable by inserting a couple of washers next to the frame (not necessary in this case). I've gently bent Topeak carriers without damage to widen for a good fit.

I own one of these racks and unless the lugs on your bike are in a different position than the ones on mine my then it will not. Usually the disc caliper gets in the way and you have to use a spacer or wider legs on your rack.

I have Altura Dryline 56 panniers, which fit perfectly onto this rack. I realise that these panniers may have a different fitting system though.

my rear bike rack copes well with 2 fully loaded panniers... this might include my laptop and a book or two, a change of clothes, a school lunch, snacks, my water bottle and my cycling poncho for wet weather. all up it's equivalent to what i could comfortably carry on my back in a 25 litre pack.

Hi there. The rack tights to the rear bars of the frame.
Therefore the bike will need two pairs of small cylinders welded to the frame: two below the seat and two more near the weel axis. If you find those you'll be ok, cause the rack has an adjustable system in horizontal and two pairs of bars of different lenght for that fit below the seat.

These racks are different. The Super Tourist Rear Rack has heavy steel components that are used to connect it to the chain stays.

The rack you linked to on the Topeak website is lighter, and easier to install.

It does not have the QuickTrack plate. Look closely - it is a flat plate on top.

As long as your frame has eyelets at the rear drop outs and upper seat stay mounting points then this rack will fit fine.

These racks do not have the QuickTrack top plate to accept the matching QuickTrack bags. You would need the Super tourist DX rack.
