Question
Do you need a flat shoe?
I have some raised grip on the rim of my shoes. Will the clip raise enough to fit my shoe? Does anyone else have this problem?

I bought these along with shoes (with grips). Had to add a spacer to cleat to raise them a little higher than the grip. No problems since.

In my expieriance, it can be used by a flat shoe, but performs better with cleats. Get yourself some dedicated flatties!

should be absolutely fine - but I's look for other pedals if you are hard wearing on your gear. The cages don't last.

The cleat can be recessed and still engage the pedal. Most MTB pedals and cleats are designed to be used on shoes with Grips on the bottom so you should be fine.

Absolutely. 51's only release in one direction. 56's release in either direction. I find 56's the best coz I like an emergency out on any product.
